Best Handgun Training offers many classes all month and all year long, while other instructors "occasionally" offer training classes. We are a full time, top-notch training facility!

When it comes down to guns and gun safety, you owe it to yourself to get the very best handgun training course and doing so in a very safe and controlled range environment. When training with BEST Handgun Training, you will walk away with a tremendous wealth of knowledge, rather than taking a "bare minimum" training class from an instructor that may not be prepared to teach the appropriate lessons, or from a newer firearms instructor without the knowledge and skills in which we possess. Most of our instructors have a minimum of 20 years of experience as a trainer and/or law enforcement backgrounds, with a combined experience of over 140 years in the industry.

While attending a CCW Training Course with Best Handgun Training you will learn all laws when it comes down to using a gun in self defense, which eliminates "gray areas" that exist for some CCW permit holders that have attended training classes from other instructors without the proper instruction. This includes draw and do not draw scenarios, shoot and do not shoot scenarios, where it is (and where it is not) permissible to carry a gun, the best type of holsters and concealment methods, the best methods for deploying your gun from a holster, what to expect after a self defense shooting, and all laws pertaining to the use of force.

Our CCW training will provide you with all of the knowledge (and more importantly, in depth discussion of laws and scenarios pertaining to CCW) in which you need to apply on a daily routine to responsibly carry a concealed weapon, as well as maintaining your marksmanship skills.

If you have "handgun" safety and "recent" handgun shooting experience, the CCW qualifications are rather simple if you know your gun. Our training courses prepare you for the real every-day world, and are scenario driven.

BEST Handgun Training's indoor classroom instruction is in a private, safe, professional facility, with plenty of free and safe parking. We do utilize either the public outdoor Dillman Range or an outdoor private shooting range nearby for live fire drills, qualifications and other exercises. SAFETY IS OUR #1 CONCERN.

If you are fairly experienced with shooting handguns (AND have been to a "public" range fairly recently), if your county sheriff requires 8 hours, we will complete the entire training in one day, provided that you demonstrate your ability to use a firearm safely.  If your county sheriff requires 16 hours (such as Sacramento, San Joaquin & Yolo County), we will complete the training over 2 days (with range and classroom time in both days). For the 2 day course, it can be over a period of time. We have flexible weekday and weekend instruction, as you will see when you click on "schedule your class". Just a reminder, we post our calendar on or about the 15th of each month, for the following month.

We are currently offering initial CCW training and renewal CCW training for the following CA counties:  El Dorado County CCW, Nevada County CCW, Placer County CCW, Sacramento County CCW, San Joaquin County CCW, Sierra County CCW, Sutter County CCW, Yolo County and Yuba County CCW. We are certified for the Utah concealed weapon permit instruction/certification (36 states).

Driving directions:  

From I-80, exit Hwy 65 towards Marysville (North). About 3 miles after the Twelve Bridges exit (near Thunder Valley Casino), Exit (to the right) at Nelson Lane (no off-ramp, but there is a traffic signal). As a reference point, this is one exit beyond the Ferrari Ranch off-ramp (just past Ferrari Ranch). Turn right at the Nelson Lane traffic signal at Hwy 65, drive about a mile, and at the Nelson Lane stop sign, turn right on to Nicolaus Road. At the 2nd stop sign, turn left on Lakeside Drive (at the gas station), and then a right into the Chevron gas station parking lot.

After successful completion of our Basic Handgun course, you are eligible to attend our Concealed Weapons Permit training for an additional $50.00 + range fee (only within 90 days of attending the basic handgun course). However, DO NOT purchase this Basic Handgun course (or any discounted offer) specifically for a CCW course. The CCW course is an entirely different training package.

Best Handgun Training Instructors are certified by either (one or all of the following):  National Rifle Association, CA Department of Justice, POST (Peace Officers Standards and Training).

Firearms safety is of the utmost importance. It is our goal to educate and teach you the  knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning, using and storing a firearm safely. 

We encourage the continued development of these skills, while pursuing the sport of target shooting, competitive events and other courses.

Gun Safety is a very serious matter, which cannot be taken lightly. Becoming a handgun owner or a Concealed Weapons Permit Holder assumes a tremendous amount of responsibility and liability.

Just because you own or may have access to a firearm (unless you have had some extensive training) doesn't mean that you have the "proper" training, knowledge and ability to use it safely, store it properly, and be prepared for any situation. The proper and responsible training with a firearm is extremely important.

Our Certified Instructors pride themselves with instructing some of the best firearms training courses available to the public.

Whether you are new to shooting, or an experienced shooter, you will find that the variety of firearms courses which we offer can be a great wealth of experience.

Best Handgun Training conducts regularly scheduled training classes throughout the month. Our calendar is posted online, on or about the 15th of each month, for the following month.

Best Handgun Training also provides a Concealed Firearms Permit training certification for 36 "shall issue" states. This is an excellent opportunity to satisfy the requirements for these states, while only needing to apply within one or more states to obtain reciprocity throughout many other states (excluding CA, as CA does NOT have reciprocity agreements with any other state).

Although Best Handgun Training provides CCW Training and Instructions/Certifications/Qualifications in 36 states, this does not apply to all CA counties. CA CCW training requirements may vary from county to county. Please email or call for further clarifications.
